It Pays To Be Grateful

Luke 17:11-19
The story of the healing of the ten lepers is a story about all of us. We may not have the disease of leprosy, but we all have a human disease - the disease of sin and its effects. We are people with unclean hearts and hands just as the lepers were people of unclean bodies.

HSH#5 - Sharing Our Faith

John 1:29-50
The good news of what God has done for us is too good to be kept to ourselves. Everybody has a testimony, a personal story that defines, shapes, moves or propels them. As believers our stories are different but they typically revolve our own salvation experience, some physical or spiritual healing, some emotional breakthrough or some personal encounter with God. These stories may vary from extraordinary to ordinary or just simple everyday blessings. However, each of these stories is very important.

HSH#4 - Step Up to the Habit of Generosity

Mark 12:38-44
As we continue our series on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Christians, we shall explore the idea of generosity. Two coins were dropped in the offering plate thousands of years ago. This small gift continues to reverberate and deeply challenge our generous practices today.

HSH#3 - Serving God and Neighbor

Matthew 20:28
We continue our series on Effective Spiritual Habits. This coming Sunday we will look at serving or volunteering. To recap what we have presented so far, effective Christians attend regular worship, have an active prayer life, and this week from Matthew 20:28, effective Christians serve others.

Time Management

Ephesians 5:15-17
How are you managing your time? What are you doing with the seconds, hours, days, weeks, months and years? In other words, how are you living out the time of your life? Paul says we are either redeeming the time we have been given or wasting it. The most precious commodity is time.

Don't Give in to Fear!

Isaiah 41:10
We live in a complicated world. A world of ups and downs. A world of good and evil. One thing that grips a lot of people living in this world is fear.
Fear causes people to live below their ability. It is a world filled with a thousand fears. Fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of ill health, fear of people's opinion, fear of being left behind, fear of being shoved aside, fear of growing old, fear of death, just to name a few.

Good to Live in Unity

Psalm 133
It is good and wonderful when friends live in unity, and it is good when families live in unity. It is also good when the church family lives in unity. In short, it is good and wonderful when people get along and everyone belongs.
This week the words of David in Psalm 133 remind us

HSH#1 - True Worshippers

John 4:21-24
If we sow a thought we reap an act. If we sow an act we reap a habit. If we sow a habit we reap life. If we sow life, we reap destiny. Our habits shape our lives. They have a determining effect on our success or failure. So, Aristotle said if we take control of our habits we can take control of our lives.
The same is true for spiritual development.

HSH#2 - The Power of Prayer

Philippians 4:5-7

Last Sunday we began our series on the six healthy habits of highly successful Christians jumping off of Steve Covey’s seven habits of highly successful people.

Last week we said regular worship is one of the healthy habits but not only that, our worship must be real and authentic. It must be in spirit and in truth.

This week, I would like us to consider prayer. The scriptures say prayer is the key to all the spiritual power in our lives. The failure to practice personal prayer renders us spiritually weak and ineffective. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us come before the throne of grace with confidence to obtain grace and find mercy to use in time of our need.” Some people ask the question if God already knows all our needs, why do we need to pray?

Spread the Word

Luke 10:1-10
Jesus needed promoters or forerunners to spread his message before he made his rounds in the same vicinities. Their task was to make Jesus known.
They were to do this in two ways:
1) Heal the sick - This was an important way of getting people's attention, winning people's hearts and creating real anticipation of his coming. If the forerunners or promoters were that good, what about Jesus himself?
2) Second, they were to announce that the King is coming - Not only was he coming he was
