Message from the Pastor
The Advent and Christmas season is upon us once again. This Advent offers us special opportunities for worship leading to our Christmas Eve services. The four Sundays of Advent starting December 3rd culminates to Christmas Eve and we are excited to reflect on the coming of Christ into our lives.
This year Christmas Eve is on a Sunday. So we will have three special services starting in the morning with one service at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary, celebrating with Lynda Christ and the Chancel Choir presenting Joy, our Christmas cantata. Then at 7 p.m. we will have the Technology and Family Contemporary Service in Covenant Hall with our Praise Team. We will finish the day with our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service with Holy Communion, celebrating with the Bell Choir, Holiday Band and our Chancel Choir.
All these services will offer opportunities for each of us to enjoy the festive celebrations with friends and family. Christmas tells us that the wise men, who saw the star in the East, came to worship Jesus Christ the newborn King. The shepherds also proclaimed, “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this amazing thing which has happened.” Luke 2:15. And when they had seen the Christ-child they returned … “glorifying God for what they had heard and seen.”
This is a wonderful story of love, miracles and salvation. Our God came down from heaven in a personal way to enter our lives. As the songwriter sang, “Love Came Down at Christmas.” And so we are all encouraged to worship and praise him for this wonderful love in Jesus Christ.
My family and I offer each of you our love, and wish all of you the most joyous and blessed Christmas this year.
May this be a truly glorious season of joy, peace, love and hope. May we all celebrate this miracle with faith and purpose. We hope our time with friends and family will be filled with the Love of Christ. Hope to see you around participating in our Christmas events!
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Pastor Kofi Ashley
