April 2017

Message from the Pastor

Dear Friends:

By the time you read this, Lent will be almost over, and Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter will be on the horizon.

For every Christian, the Resurrection is the most important miracle in our faith. Paul says without the Resurrection, Christians have no hope and they are to be pitied.

So, what difference does the Resurrection make? Well, the Resurrection gives us the hope for a future with God. The Resurrection is the one assurance that our sins are forgiven and that Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross, and He was raised up from the dead. The Resurrection assures us that God will be with us in this life and the one to come. This is the promise of Easter.

However, we cannot go to Easter without Holy Week. The victory of Easter starts from Holy Week when Jesus went through the agony of pain and suffering and death to bring us this hope.

So, my hope and prayer is that we will be fully engaged on this journey from Lent to Easter as our faith in Christ is renewed and refreshed every day.

We have special services planned throughout this period of Holy Week and Easter. Please invite your friends, family, and neighbors to our special services during this period!

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on April 9. We will have our regular three services at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Maundy Thursday, April 13, is the night of the Last Supper with the twelve disciples. Our worship service with Holy Communion begins with a simple meal of bread and soup at 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and our worship service starts at 7 p.m.

Good Friday, April 14, is the night we mark Jesus’ death on the cross, and we will have a worship service in the sanctuary, sharing the story of the Passion and anthems by the choir.

Easter Sunday, April 16, our sunrise service begins at 7 a.m. at Knob Hill followed by three Easter Services at 8:15, 9:30 Contemporary Worship Service, and an Easter cantata at the 11 a.m. service with Holy Communion.

Please come join us as we share in this special period that marks a pivotal part of our faith as Christians. Looking forward to seeing you!

Stay blessed!
Pastor Kofi Ashley
